USS MANATEE REUNION MAY 6, 7 & 8, 2008, RENO, NEVADA
Start saving your pennies (yes, they have penny slots) and he prepared for a good time at the next USS Manatee reunion Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, May 6, 7 and 8 in Reno, Nevada.
The hotel is first class --- Circus Circus in the heart of the casino district in downtown Reno with special USS Manatee room rates: $49 plus tax per night. The hotel offers free shuttle service to and from the airport. If you come by Amtrak, the station is basically next door. And if you have your own car, there's free parking at the hotel.
There will be a hospitality room open all three days with complementary refreshments. The official banquet will be held on Thursday evening; May 8 ($27.41 per person) that includes all the taxes. We hope all of you will join us on an optional seven-hour tour of historic Virginia City, Carson City & Lake Tahoe ($47 per person) on Wednesday, May 7. But that's only part of the fun, because that evening there will be an optional buffet dinner that includes a big Reno stage show ($36.00 per person). More details on these activities will be provided in the next newsletter.
So here's the schedule:
Tuesday, May 6:
Check in anytime on Tuesday and join us in the hospitality room.
Wednesday, May 7:
On Wednesday join us on a 7-hour guided tour of historic Virginia City, Carson City and Lake Tahoe followed by a buffet dinner and big stage show that evening. The hospitality room will always be open before, after and in-between other activities.
Thursday, May 8:
On Thursday spend the day in Reno shopping, gambling, golfing, bowling, visiting museums, watching the kayak racing on the river or whatever. In the evening there will be our annual banquet. The hospitality room will again welcome you all day and evening. Friday, May 9:

IT’S TIME TO SEND IN FUNDS FOR THE 2008 USS MANATEE REUNION
We are just a few weeks away from the May 6, 7 & 8 USS Manatee reunion in Reno, Nevada and its crunch time. We want you, your wife and any of your guests to attend.
So here’s what you need to do right now:
Reserve your room:
If you haven’t reserved your room at Circus Circus – please do so now. The toll free number is: 800-648-5010. And make sure you ask for the special USS Manatee Reunion rate of $49 per night. Three nights: Check in anytime Tuesday, May 6 and check out Friday (by noon) May 8.

$28 per person: Our official buffet banquet Thursday night which features beef stroganoff with noodles and roasted rotisserie chicken breast as the main courses along with salads, vegetables and deserts. This will be followed by an auction and a business meeting to decide on the location of the following year’s reunion. If you have an idea on a location and will be willing to host it next year be ready to speak up and present your case. Bring one or more items that can be auctioned as a fundraiser for next year.
$47 per person: (optional): A 7-hour guided tour Wednesday of Lake Tahoe, Carson City and Virginia City. If you have any doubts about this trip ---don’t have. The countryside is spectacular and Virginia City is a place carved right out of a John Wayne western movie. You’ll have time to explore the town on your own but for those who are limited in their walking it won’t be a problem. Believe me ---you won’t want to miss it.
$36 per person: (optional): Buffet dinner and stage show at the El Dorado Hotel Wednesday night. The variety and quality of the food is great and the show includes an award-winning troupe of international performers with dancers from the hit TV show Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance. It also features Australian Ballroom dancing champions, World Latin American champions and dancers from Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Asia, Holland and Slovakia.
Free to everyone: Our own hospitality room with all kinds of on-the-house refreshments.
Here we can mingle every day, swap stories and share tour books and Navy photos.
